And after the uproar was ceased, vocatis Paulus discipulis et exhortatus Paul called unto him the disciples, and eos valedixit et profectus est ut iret embraced them, and departed for to go in Macedoniam into Macedonia. 20:2 cum autem perambulasset partes 2. And when he had gone over those illas et exhortatus eos fuisset multo parts, and had given them much sermone venit ad Graeciam exhortation, he came into Greece, 20:3 ubi cum fecisset menses tres 3. And there abode three months. And factae sunt illi insidiae a Iudaeis when the Jews laid wait for him, as he navigaturo in Syriam habuitque was about to sail into Syria, he consilium ut reverteretur per Macedoniam purposed to return through Macedonia. 20:4 comitatus est autem eum Sopater 4. And there accompanied him into Asia Pyrri Beroensis Thessalonicensium vero Sopater of Berea; and of the Aristarchus et Secundus et Gaius Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Derbeus et Timotheus Asiani vero Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Tychicus et Trophimus Timotheus; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus. 20:5 hii cum praecessissent 5. These going before tarried for us sustinebant nos Troade at Troas. 20:6 nos vero navigavimus post dies 6. And we sailed away from Philippi azymorum a Philippis et venimus ad eos after the days of unleavened bread, and Troadem in diebus quinque ubi demorati came unto them to Troas in five days; sumus diebus septem where we abode seven days. 20:7 in una autem sabbati cum 7. And upon the first day of the week, convenissemus ad frangendum panem when the disciples came together to Paulus disputabat eis profecturus in break bread, Paul preached unto them, crastinum protraxitque sermonem usque ready to depart on the morrow; and in mediam noctem continued his speech until midnight. 20:8 erant autem lampades copiosae in 8. And there were many lights in the cenaculo ubi eramus congregati upper chamber, where they were gathered together. 20:9 sedens autem quidam adulescens 9. And there sat in a window a certain nomine Eutychus super fenestram cum young man named Eutychus, being fallen mergeretur somno gravi disputante diu into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long Paulo eductus somno cecidit de tertio preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and cenaculo deorsum et sublatus est mortuus fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. 20:10 ad quem cum descendisset Paulus 10. And Paul went down, and fell on incubuit super eum et conplexus dixit him, and embracing him said, Trouble nolite turbari anima enim ipsius in eo not yourselves; for his life is in him. est 20:11 ascendens autem frangensque 11. When he therefore was come up panem et gustans satisque adlocutus again, and had broken bread, and eaten, usque in lucem sic profectus est and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed. 20:12 adduxerunt autem puerum viventem 12. And they brought the young man et consolati sunt non minime alive, and were not a little comforted. 20:13 nos autem ascendentes navem 13. And we went before to ship, and enavigavimus in Asson inde suscepturi sailed unto Assos, there intending to Paulum sic enim disposuerat ipse per take in Paul: for so had he appointed, terram iter facturus minding himself to go afoot. 20:14 cum autem convenisset nos in 14. And we sailed thence, and came the venimus contra Chium et alia next day over against Chios; and the adplicuimus Samum et sequenti venimus next day we arrived at Samos, and Miletum tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus. 20:16 proposuerat enim Paulus 16. For Paul had determined to sail by transnavigare Ephesum ne qua mora illi Ephesus, because he would not spend the fieret in Asia festinabat enim si time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possibile sibi esset ut diem possible for him, to be at Jerusalem pentecosten faceret Hierosolymis the day of Pentecost. 20:17 a Mileto autem mittens Ephesum 17. And from Miletus he sent to vocavit maiores natu ecclesiae Ephesus, and called the elders of the church. 20:18 qui cum venissent ad eum et 18. And when they were come to him, he simul essent dixit eis vos scitis a said unto them, Ye know, from the first prima die qua ingressus sum in Asiam day that I came into Asia, after what qualiter vobiscum per omne tempus fuerim manner I have been with you at all seasons, 20:19 serviens Domino cum omni 19. Serving the LORD with all humility humilitate et lacrimis et of mind, and with many tears, and temptationibus quae mihi acciderunt ex temptations, which befell me by the insidiis Iudaeorum lying in wait of the Jews: 20:20 quomodo nihil subtraxerim 20. And how I kept back nothing that utilium quo minus adnuntiarem vobis et was profitable unto you, but have docerem vos publice et per domos shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, 20:21 testificans Iudaeis atque 21. Testifying both to the Jews, and gentilibus in Deum paenitentiam et also to the Greeks, repentance toward fidem in Dominum nostrum Iesum Christum God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. 20:22 et nunc ecce alligatus ego 22. And now, behold, I go bound in the Spiritu vado in Hierusalem quae in ea spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the eventura sint mihi ignorans things that shall befall me there: 20:23 nisi quod Spiritus Sanctus per 23. Save that the Holy Ghost omnes civitates protestatur mihi dicens witnesseth in every city, saying that quoniam vincula et tribulationes me bonds and afflictions abide me. manent 20:24 sed nihil horum vereor nec facio 24. But none of these things move me, animam pretiosiorem quam me dummodo neither count I my life dear unto consummem cursum meum et ministerium myself, so that I might finish my quod accepi a Domino Iesu testificari course with joy, and the ministry, evangelium gratiae Dei which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. 20:25 et nunc ecce ego scio quia 25. And now, behold, I know that ye amplius non videbitis faciem meam vos all, among whom I have gone preaching omnes per quos transivi praedicans the kingdom of God, shall see my face regnum Dei no more. 20:26 quapropter contestor vos 26. Wherefore I take you to record hodierna die quia mundus sum a sanguine this day, that I am pure from the blood omnium of all men. 20:27 non enim subterfugi quo minus 27. For I have not shunned to declare adnuntiarem omne consilium Dei vobis unto you all the counsel of God. 20:28 adtendite vobis et universo 28. Take heed therefore unto gregi in quo vos Spiritus Sanctus yourselves, and to all the flock, over posuit episcopos regere ecclesiam Dei the which the Holy Ghost hath made you quam adquisivit sanguine suo overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 20:29 ego scio quoniam intrabunt post 29. For I know this, that after my discessionem meam lupi graves in vos departing shall grievous wolves enter non parcentes gregi in among you, not sparing the flock. 20:30 et ex vobis ipsis exsurgent viri 30. Also of your own selves shall men loquentes perversa ut abducant arise, speaking perverse things, to discipulos post se draw away disciples after them. 20:31 propter quod vigilate memoria 31. Therefore watch, and remember, retinentes quoniam per triennium nocte that by the space of three years I et die non cessavi cum lacrimis monens ceased not to warn every one night and unumquemque vestrum day with tears. 20:32 et nunc commendo vos Deo et 32. And now, brethren, I commend you verbo gratiae ipsius qui potens est to God, and to the word of his grace, aedificare et dare hereditatem in which is able to build you up, and to sanctificatis omnibus give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. 20:33 argentum aut aurum aut vestem 33. I have coveted no man's silver, or nullius concupivi gold, or apparel. 20:34 ipsi scitis quoniam ad ea quae 34. Yea, ye yourselves know, that mihi opus erant et his qui mecum sunt these hands have ministered unto my ministraverunt manus istae necessities, and to them that were with me. 20:35 omnia ostendi vobis quoniam sic 35. I have shewed you all things, how laborantes oportet suscipere infirmos that so labouring ye ought to support ac meminisse verbi Domini Iesu quoniam the weak, and to remember the words of ipse dixit beatius est magis dare quam the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more accipere blessed to give than to receive. 20:36 et cum haec dixisset positis 36. And when he had thus spoken, he genibus suis cum omnibus illis oravit kneeled down, and prayed with them all. 20:37 magnus autem fletus factus est 37. And they all wept sore, and fell omnium et procumbentes super collum on Paul's neck, and kissed him, Pauli osculabantur eum 20:38 dolentes maxime in verbo quo 38. Sorrowing most of all for the dixerat quoniam amplius faciem eius non words which he spake, that they should essent visuri et deducebant eum ad navem see his face no more.
