21:1 cum autem factum esset ut 1. And it came to pass, that after we
navigaremus abstracti ab eis recto were gotten from them, and had
cursu venimus Cho et sequenti die launched, we came with a straight
Rhodum et inde Patara course unto Coos, and the day following
unto Rhodes, and from thence unto
                                             Patara:

21:2 et cum invenissemus navem 2. And finding a ship sailing over
transfretantem in Foenicen ascendentes unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set
navigavimus forth.

21:3 cum paruissemus autem Cypro et 3. Now when we had discovered Cyprus,
relinquentes eam ad sinistram we left it on the left hand, and sailed
navigabamus in Syriam et venimus Tyrum into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for
ibi enim navis erat expositura onus there the ship was to unlade her burden.

21:4 inventis autem discipulis 4. And finding disciples, we tarried
mansimus ibi diebus septem qui Paulo there seven days: who said to Paul
dicebant per Spiritum ne ascenderet through the Spirit, that he should not
Hierosolymam go up to Jerusalem.

21:5 et explicitis diebus profecti 5. And when we had accomplished those
ibamus deducentibus nos omnibus cum days, we departed and went our way; and
uxoribus et filiis usque foras they all brought us on our way, with
civitatem et positis genibus in litore wives and children, till we were out of
oravimus the city: and we kneeled down on the
                                             shore, and prayed.

21:6 et cum valefecissemus invicem 6. And when we had taken our leave one
ascendimus in navem illi autem of another, we took ship; and they
redierunt in sua returned home again.

21:7 nos vero navigatione explicita a 7. And when we had finished our course
Tyro descendimus Ptolomaida et from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and
salutatis fratribus mansimus die una saluted the brethren, and abode with
apud illos them one day.

21:8 alia autem die profecti venimus 8. And the next day we that were of
Caesaream et intrantes in domum Paul's company departed, and came unto
Philippi evangelistae qui erat de Caesarea: and we entered into the house
septem mansimus apud eum of Philip the evangelist, which was one
of the seven; and abode with him.

21:9 huic autem erant filiae quattuor 9. And the same man had four
virgines prophetantes daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.

21:10 et cum moraremur per dies 10. And as we tarried there many days,
aliquot supervenit quidam a Iudaea there came down from Judaea a certain
propheta nomine Agabus prophet, named Agabus.

21:11 is cum venisset ad nos tulit 11. And when he was come unto us, he
zonam Pauli et alligans sibi pedes et took Paul's girdle, and bound his own
manus dixit haec dicit Spiritus Sanctus hands and feet, and said, Thus saith
virum cuius est zona haec sic the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at
alligabunt in Hierusalem Iudaei et Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this
tradent in manus gentium girdle, and shall deliver him into the
                                             hands of the Gentiles.

21:12 quod cum audissemus rogabamus 12. And when we heard these things,
nos et qui loci illius erant ne both we, and they of that place,
ascenderet Hierosolymam besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.

21:13 tunc respondit Paulus et dixit 13. Then Paul answered, What mean ye
quid facitis flentes et adfligentes cor to weep and to break mine heart? for I
meum ego enim non solum alligari sed et am ready not to be bound only, but also
mori in Hierusalem paratus sum propter to die at Jerusalem for the name of the
nomen Domini Iesu Lord Jesus.

21:14 et cum ei suadere non possemus 14. And when he would not be
quievimus dicentes Domini voluntas fiat persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will
                                             of the Lord be done.

21:15 post dies autem istos praeparati 15. And after those days we took up
ascendebamus Hierusalem our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.

21:16 venerunt autem et ex discipulis 16. There went with us also certain of
a Caesarea nobiscum adducentes apud the disciples of Caesarea, and brought
quem hospitaremur Mnasonem quendam with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old
Cyprium antiquum discipulum disciple, with whom we should lodge.

21:17 et cum venissemus Hierosolymam 17. And when we were come to
libenter exceperunt nos fratres Jerusalem, the brethren received us
                                             gladly.

21:18 sequenti autem die introibat 18. And the day following Paul went in
Paulus nobiscum ad Iacobum omnesque with us unto James; and all the elders
collecti sunt seniores were present.

21:19 quos cum salutasset narrabat per 19. And when he had saluted them, he
singula quae fecisset Deus in gentibus declared particularly what things God
per ministerium ipsius had wrought among the Gentiles by his
                                             ministry.

21:20 at illi cum audissent 20. And when they heard it, they
magnificabant Deum dixeruntque ei vides glorified the Lord, and said unto him,
frater quot milia sint in Iudaeis qui Thou seest, brother, how many thousands
crediderunt et omnes aemulatores sunt of Jews there are which believe; and
legis they are all zealous of the law:

21:21 audierunt autem de te quia 21. And they are informed of thee,
discessionem doceas a Mose eorum qui that thou teachest all the Jews which
per gentes sunt Iudaeorum dicens non are among the Gentiles to forsake

neque secundum consuetudinem ingredi circumcise their children, neither to
                                             walk after the customs.

21:22 quid ergo est utique oportet 22. What is it therefore? the

supervenisse they will hear that thou art come.

21:23 hoc ergo fac quod tibi dicimus 23. Do therefore this that we say to

nothing; but that thou thyself also
walkest orderly, and keepest the law.

21:25 de his autem qui crediderunt ex 25. As touching the Gentiles which
gentibus nos scripsimus iudicantes ut believe, we have written and concluded
abstineant se ab idolis immolato et that they observe no such thing, save
sanguine et suffocato et fornicatione only that they keep themselves from
things offered to idols, and from
blood, and from strangled, and from
                                             fornication.

21:26 tunc Paulus adsumptis viris 26. Then Paul took the men, and the
postera die purificatus cum illis next day purifying himself with them
intravit in templum adnuntians entered into the temple, to signify the

21:30 commotaque est civitas tota et 30. And all the city was moved, and
