11:1 audierunt autem apostoli et 1. And the apostles and brethren that
fratres qui erant in Iudaea quoniam et were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles
gentes receperunt verbum Dei had also received the word of God.

Hierosolymam disceptabant adversus Jerusalem, they that were of the

11:4 incipiens autem Petrus exponebat 4. But Peter rehearsed the matter from
illis ordinem dicens the beginning, and expounded it by
                                             order unto them, saying,

11:5 ego eram in civitate Ioppe orans 5. I was in the city of Joppa praying:
et vidi in excessu mentis visionem and in a trance I saw a vision, A
descendens vas quoddam velut linteum certain vessel descend, as it had been
magnum quattuor initiis submitti de a great sheet, let down from heaven by
caelo et venit usque ad me four corners; and it came even to me:

11:6 in quod intuens considerabam et 6. Upon the which when I had fastened
vidi quadrupedia terrae et bestias et mine eyes, I considered, and saw
reptilia et volatilia caeli fourfooted beasts of the earth, and
wild beasts, and creeping things, and
                                             fowls of the air.

11:7 audivi autem et vocem dicentem 7. And I heard a voice saying unto me,
mihi surgens Petre occide et manduca Arise, Peter; slay and eat.

11:8 dixi autem nequaquam Domine quia 8. But I said, Not so, Lord: for
commune aut inmundum numquam introivit nothing common or unclean hath at any
in os meum time entered into my mouth.

11:9 respondit autem vox secundo de 9. But the voice answered me again
caelo quae Deus mundavit tu ne commune from heaven, What God hath cleansed,
dixeris that call not thou common.

11:10 hoc autem factum est per ter et 10. And this was done three times: and
recepta sunt rursum omnia in caelum all were drawn up again into heaven.

11:11 et ecce confestim tres viri 11. And, behold, immediately there
adstiterunt in domo in qua eram missi a were three men already come unto the
Caesarea ad me house where I was, sent from Caesarea
                                             unto me.

11:12 dixit autem Spiritus mihi ut 12. And the Spirit bade me go with
irem cum illis nihil haesitans venerunt them, nothing doubting. Moreover these
autem mecum et sex fratres isti et six brethren accompanied me, and we
ingressi sumus in domum viri entered into the man's house:

11:13 narravit autem nobis quomodo 13. And he shewed us how he had seen
vidisset angelum in domo sua stantem et an angel in his house, which stood and

accersi Simonem qui cognominatur Petrus      call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;

11:14 qui loquetur tibi verba in 14. Who shall tell thee words, whereby

11:16 recordatus sum autem verbi 16. Then remembered I the word of the
Domini sicut dicebat Iohannes quidem Lord, how that he said, John indeed
baptizavit aqua vos autem baptizabimini baptized with water; but ye shall be
Spiritu Sancto baptized with the Holy Ghost.

11:17 si ergo eandem gratiam dedit 17. Forasmuch then as God gave them
illis Deus sicut et nobis qui the like gift as he did unto us, who
credidimus in Dominum Iesum Christum believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what
ego quis eram qui possem prohibere Deum was I, that I could withstand God?

11:18 his auditis tacuerunt et 18. When they heard these things, they
glorificaverunt Deum dicentes ergo et held their peace, and glorified God,
gentibus Deus paenitentiam ad vitam saying, Then hath God also to the

11:19 et illi quidem qui dispersi 19. Now they which were scattered
fuerant a tribulatione quae facta abroad upon the persecution that arose
fuerat sub Stephano perambulaverunt about Stephen travelled as far as
usque Foenicen et Cyprum et Antiochiam Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch,
nemini loquentes verbum nisi solis preaching the word to none but unto the
Iudaeis Jews only.

11:20 erant autem quidam ex eis viri 20. And some of them were men of
cyprii et cyrenei qui cum introissent Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they
Antiochiam loquebantur et ad Graecos were come to Antioch, spake unto the
adnuntiantes Dominum Iesum Grecians, preaching the LORD Jesus.

11:21 et erat manus Domini cum eis 21. And the hand of the Lord was with
multusque numerus credentium conversus them: and a great number believed, and
est ad Dominum turned unto the Lord.

11:22 pervenit autem sermo ad aures 22. Then tidings of these things came
ecclesiae quae erat Hierosolymis super unto the ears of the church which was
istis et miserunt Barnaban usque in Jerusalem: and they sent forth
Antiochiam Barnabas, that he should go as far as
                                             Antioch.

11:23 qui cum pervenisset et vidisset 23. Who, when he came, and had seen
gratiam Dei gavisus est et hortabatur the grace of God, was glad, and
omnes proposito cordis permanere in exhorted them all, that with purpose of
Domino heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

11:24 quia erat vir bonus et plenus 24. For he was a good man, and full of
Spiritu Sancto et fide et adposita est the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much
turba multa Domino people was added unto the Lord.

11:25 profectus est autem Tarsum ut 25. Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus,
quaereret Saulum quem cum invenisset for to seek Saul:
perduxit Antiochiam

11:26 et annum totum conversati sunt 26. And when he had found him, he
in ecclesia et docuerunt turbam multam brought him unto Antioch. And it came
ita ut cognominarentur primum to pass, that a whole year they
Antiochiae discipuli Christiani assembled themselves with the church,
and taught much people. And the
                                             disciples were called Christians first
                                             in Antioch.

11:27 in his autem diebus 27. And in these days came prophets
supervenerunt ab Hierosolymis prophetae from Jerusalem unto Antioch.

                                             Caesar.

11:29 discipuli autem prout quis 29. Then the disciples, every man
habebat proposuerunt singuli eorum in according to his ability, determined to
ministerium mittere habitantibus in send relief unto the brethren which
Iudaea fratribus dwelt in Judaea:

11:30 quod et fecerunt mittentes ad 30. Which also they did, and sent it
seniores per manus Barnabae et Sauli to the elders by the hands of Barnabas
                                             and Saul.
