7:2 qui ait viri fratres et patres 2. And he said, Men, brethren, and
audite Deus gloriae apparuit patri fathers, hearken; The God of glory
nostro Abraham cum esset in appeared unto our father Abraham, when
Mesopotamiam priusquam moraretur in he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt

7:3 et dixit ad illum exi de terra tua 3. And said unto him, Get thee out of
et de cognatione tua et veni in terram thy country, and from thy kindred, and
quam tibi monstravero come into the land which I shall shew

7:5 et non dedit illi hereditatem in 5. And he gave him none inheritance in
ea nec passum pedis et repromisit dare it, no, not so much as to set his foot
illi eam in possessionem et semini eius on: yet he promised that he would give
post ipsum cum non haberet filium it to him for a possession, and to his
seed after him, when as yet he had no

7:6 locutus est autem Deus quia erit 6. And God spake on this wise, That
semen eius accola in terra aliena et his seed should sojourn in a strange

and serve me in this place.

7:8 et dedit illi testamentum 8. And he gave him the covenant of
circumcisionis et sic genuit Isaac et circumcision: and so Abraham begat

7:10 et eripuit eum ex omnibus 10. And delivered him out of all his
tribulationibus eius et dedit ei afflictions, and gave him favour and
gratiam et sapientiam in conspectu wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of
Pharaonis regis Aegypti et constituit Egypt; and he made him governor over
eum praepositum super Aegyptum et super Egypt and all his house.

7:11 venit autem fames in universam 11. Now there came a dearth over all
Aegyptum et Chanaan et tribulatio magna the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and
et non inveniebant cibos patres nostri great affliction: and our fathers found
                                             no sustenance.

7:12 cum audisset autem Iacob esse 12. But when Jacob heard that there

nostros primum fathers first.

7:13 et in secundo cognitus est Ioseph 13. And at the second time Joseph was
a fratribus suis et manifestatum est made known to his brethren; and
Pharaoni genus eius Joseph's kindred was made known unto
                                             Pharaoh.

7:15 et descendit Iacob in Aegyptum et 15. So Jacob went down into Egypt, and
defunctus est ipse et patres nostri died, he, and our fathers,

                                             not live.

7:20 eodem tempore natus est Moses et 20. In which time Moses was born, and
fuit gratus Deo qui nutritus est tribus was exceeding fair, and nourished up in
mensibus in domo patris sui his father's house three months:

7:21 exposito autem illo sustulit eum 21. And when he was cast out,
filia Pharaonis et enutrivit eum sibi Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and
in filium nourished him for her own son.

7:22 et eruditus est Moses omni 22. And Moses was learned in all the
sapientia Aegyptiorum et erat potens in wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty
verbis et in operibus suis in words and in deeds.

7:23 cum autem impleretur ei 23. And when he was full forty years
quadraginta annorum tempus ascendit in old, it came into his heart to visit
cor eius ut visitaret fratres suos his brethren the children of Israel.

7:24 et cum vidisset quendam iniuriam 24. And seeing one of them suffer
patientem vindicavit illum et fecit wrong, he defended him, and avenged him

percusso Aegyptio Egyptian:

7:25 existimabat autem intellegere 25. For he supposed his brethren would
fratres quoniam Deus per manum ipsius have understood how that God by his

intellexerunt understood not.

7:26 sequenti vero die apparuit illis 26. And the next day he shewed himself
litigantibus et reconciliabat eos in unto them as they strove, and would
pacem dicens viri fratres estis ut quid have set them at one again, saying,

7:27 qui autem iniuriam faciebat 27. But he that did his neighbour

7:28 numquid interficere me tu vis 28. Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest
quemadmodum interfecisti heri Aegyptium the Egyptian yesterday?

7:29 fugit autem Moses in verbo isto 29. Then fled Moses at this saying,
et factus est advena in terra Madiam and was a stranger in the land of
ubi generavit filios duos Madian, where he begat two sons.

7:30 et expletis annis quadraginta 30. And when forty years were expired,
apparuit illi in deserto montis Sina there appeared to him in the wilderness
angelus in igne flammae rubi of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a

7:31 Moses autem videns admiratus est 31. When Moses saw it, he wondered at
visum et accedente illo ut consideraret the sight: and as he drew near to

                                             unto him,

7:32 ego Deus patrum tuorum Deus 32. Saying, I am the God of thy

tremefactus autem Moses non audebat God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
considerare Then Moses trembled, and durst not

7:33 dixit autem illi Dominus solve 33. Then said the Lord to him, Put off
calciamentum pedum tuorum locus enim in thy shoes from thy feet: for the place
quo stas terra sancta est where thou standest is holy ground.

7:34 videns vidi adflictionem populi 34. I have seen, I have seen the

7:36 hic eduxit illos faciens prodigia 36. He brought them out, after that he
et signa in terra Aegypti et in Rubro had shewed wonders and signs in the
mari et in deserto annis quadraginta land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and
                                             in the wilderness forty years.

7:37 hic est Moses qui dixit filiis 37. This is that Moses, which said
Israhel prophetam vobis suscitabit Deus unto the children of Israel, A prophet
de fratribus vestris tamquam me shall the Lord your God raise up unto

7:38 hic est qui fuit in ecclesia in 38. This is he, that was in the church
solitudine cum angelo qui loquebatur ei in the wilderness with the angel which

7:42 convertit autem Deus et tradidit 42. Then God turned, and gave them up
eos servire militiae caeli sicut to worship the host of heaven; as it is

7:44 tabernaculum testimonii fuit 44. Our fathers had the tabernacle of
